BRITISH CYCLING TEAMS UP WITH RETÜL

Retül is now British Cycling’s official bike fit system supplier, and will work in conjunction with its medical team to ensure riders’ bikes are set up for maximum performance while minimizing the risk of injury.

The relationship will initially run for two years and will ensure that British Cycling staff have access to the latest in bike fit technology, training and support.

British Cycling’s Lead Physiotherapist, Phil Burt, said:

“Retül’s ethos is all about dynamic bike fit, recording data whilst the rider is in motion and so their bike fitting system is the most comprehensive yet and incredibly accurate. In the right hands this equipment is a powerful tool. I look forward to working with Retül over the next two years to ensure that the GB Cycling Team’s bikes provide them with the best possible riding experience on the road to Rio.”

Retül’s co-founder, Todd Carver, added:

“British Cycling is widely considered the world’s premiere cycling national governing body. It is an honor for Retül to be a part of the future success of their riders – particularly at World Championship, Olympic and Paralympic level – and the opportunity to work with staff at British Cycling is invaluable in terms of always improving upon our processes. We’re very excited to see what we can accomplish together over the next two years.”

Retül will also support British Cycling’s expert knowledge zone on its website - the Insight Zone – by providing industry-leading content that the sports governing body’s 75,000 members and coaches will have exclusive access to.

About British Cycling

British Cycling is the national governing body for cycling as recognized by the UCI – the international federation for the sport. Based in Manchester at the National Cycling Centre, British Cycling works across all levels and six disciplines of the sport (BMX, Mountain Bike, Cyclo-Cross, Road, Track and Cycle Speedway), from providing the support and encouragement people need to get riding their bikes for the first time, to being home to the hugely successful Great Britain Cycling Team. Continued success at the highest level is inspiring a boom in participation across the nation.

There have never been more opportunities to ride a bike, be it for fun or sport, and British Cycling is at the heart of this growth. British Cycling also works hard to represent cyclists’ interests at all levels, including campaigning on important issues including road safety. As a membership organization, British Cycling provides a suite of benefits and support to its members who currently number over 75,000. All membership revenue is invested back into cycling. British Cycling was named Governing Body of the Year at the 2013 Sports Industry Awards.

London is bidding to host the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships at the London 2012 Velodrome – the heart of Lee Valley VeloPark – arguably the most iconic venue on London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and already established as one of the world’s great sporting arenas. With a fully underwritten hosting budget, London offers the UCI a risk-free, highly professional Championships that will attract sell-out, fanatical crowds, as well as significant media and sponsor attention to help grow the profile of cycling globally. The UCI is due to announce the host city for the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in June 2013.
